Excel Core

Excel Core introduces you to the programme structure and tools to assist you in doing your daily planning, logging, calculations and reporting digitally, all in a fraction of the time it takes to do so on paper.

Already an Excel user? There is a lot for you too. Excel Core introduces you to customising toolbars and customising styles which will give your worksheets a professional look.

You will be introduced to a myriad of shortcut keys for tools and navigation, making your daily tasks smoother and faster. You will learn how to optimise the use of tools which you possibly already use, by looking at the additional options which we often don’t have time to explore.

Would you like to prevent errors on sheets even before data is captured? How about a tool that groups and creates subtotals for you? Or the ability to have an automatically updating summary of data on a workbook or sheet that you are not currently working on? Excel Core will bring these skills to your fingertips.

Excel Intermediate

(Prerequisite: Excel Core)

Excel Intermediate focusses on functions and how to combine the functions to perform more than one task at a time.

You will be taught how to use the correct format for the outcome you would like to achieve, as well as functions specific to the type of data you are using. You will learn to use conditions in the formulae to obtain answers to questions which may otherwise have required tedious sorting and filtering.

No more counting columns when you use a lookup function, only accept an ID if it is in fact a number with 13 digits and don’t lose the leading zero all in one go. You will learn how to seamlessly interact between various MS Office programmes, making your reporting a lot easier and more interactive.

Excel Intermediate will take your calculation and representation skills to the next level.

Excel Advanced

(Prerequisites: Excel Core and Intermediate)

Once Excel Core and Intermediate have laid a solid foundation for you, the Excel Advanced course explores the next level in problem-solving and automation skills.

Learn how to save time in your workflow, protect your information, forecast trends and use advanced charts.

You will get a lot of practice with a variety of nested formulas, such as nested ifs, various lookup functions, iferrors and lots in between. You will be exposed to macros and learn more about creating them in VBA. With VBA, you can design and implement automated processes.

From extracting and formatting to cleaning your data, VBA will enable you to do this within a fraction of the time it would take to do a manual process.

Killer Dashboards

(Prerequisite: Excel Core)

Killer dashboards is an alternative to Power BI. The course investigates the dashboards created in Excel Intermediate more broadly and includes the use of the powerful relational abilities of Power Pivot.

The focus is on advanced data cleaning, more advanced PivotCharts, basic DAX formulae, measures and KPIs in Power Pivot as well as basic design principles to communicate your visual message clearly.

SQL

(Prerequisites: Excel Core and Intermediate)

This course provides a foundation of the SQL programming language that enables students to build queries and manipulate databases.

You will learn to retrieve data from SQL tables, do calculations in those tables and manipulate data. This course is specifically structured for customisation to your functional needs and for synergy.

After completion of this course, you will be confident to use MySQL and to use SQL queries in MS Access.

Power BI

(Prerequisites: Excel Core and Intermediate)

Power BI is a business analytics service and tool provided by Microsoft. It allows users to create interactive visualizations and dashboards.

In this course, you will be able to use, transform, analyse and summarise data from multiple sources to create beautiful and effective visual presentations on dashboards.

You will learn how to make use of the different tools that Power Bi has to offer, learn how to use the query editor, create calculated columns and measures, and experiment with different interactive visualisations that can be used to share insights across your department and in your job.

Access Core

Access Core is all about how databases work and what the different components are.

You will learn how to plan your database, normalise the data, use built-in wizards and define relationships. You will learn to build tables, queries, forms and reports from scratch. After completing this course you be confident to use the Access interface independently.

Computer Skills

Computer skills is for the person who has had limited exposure to computers or who needs to up their basic Microsoft efficiency skills for communication, data processing and reporting.

It explores the basics from hardware to software and interfacing with your computer. The programme structures of the Microsoft 365 suite are explored with the aim to become confidently proficient Outlook, Word and Excel beginner user.

Python Core

Python is for the person who has had limited exposure to programming or who needs to build their basic coding efficiency skills for automation, data analysis, and problem-solving.

It explores the basics from understanding syntax and writing simple scripts to using libraries that interact with your computer. The programme structures of Python are introduced with the aim to become a confident beginner, able to create small projects, process simple data, and apply coding to everyday tasks.
